 | Ahavat Yisrael Hebrew School offers an innovative program for girls who are approaching the age of Bat Mitzvah. This program has been a great success and is regarded by the girls as a highlight of their Hebrew School experience. The class meets once a week on Sunday mornings from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at either our Ventura Park or Bais Yaakov campus. It is a serious and mature curriculum specifically geared towards girls who are approaching the age of Jewish womanhood.
Our program will include:
- thoughtful and stimulating topics for the girls to ponder, aiming at instilling a life long Jewish identity, a bond to the Jewish homeland, a sense of Jewish pride and an understanding of Jewish ethics and values
- many guest speakers, as well as field trips and volunteer work to round out this experience of a lifetime
- mother & daughter Challah braiding session and the designing and creating of Silk Challah covers are examples of our unique and creative program
The program culminates with a Bat Mitzvah Ceremony and an elegant dinner celebration that takes place at the opulent Beth Avraham Yoseph Synagogue in Thornhill, in May/June. The ceremony will include a fully catered dinner, complete with wine, centerpieces and a musician. At the ceremony, each Bat Mitzvah graduate will present an original D'var Torah (speech) on a Jewish topic that is meaningful to her. The Ceremony will also include a presentation by the graduates. Each graduate will receive a Bat Mitzvah diploma as well as a graduation gift.
The program is opened to girls who will be turning twelve by the summer of 2007 (Grade 6 or 7 student). The tuition cost of the program is $725.00. In addition to the tuition costs, each family is obligated to invite a minimum of 8 people to the Dinner. Families are encouraged to invite as many guests as they wish to share in the Simchah. The Dinner cost will be approximately $75.00 per adult, all-inclusive.
